SOLD: 1981 Hondo L5 Fat Boy Semi-Acoustic Guitar

1981 Hondo L5 Fat Boy Semi-Acoustic Guitar with Hiscox hard case: SOLD

From 1974 until 1983 Hondo were based in Japan and their “top of the range” guitar was this one – the Fat Boy a copy of a Gibson L5. It was made in one the of the high end factories of the time and is a superb example of top craftsmanship.
This is a fantastic quality guitar, and one that is now widely recognised as such. The material used and the workmanship are as good as you’ll find on any guitar, and it is a lovely instrument to play, both acoustically and plugged in.
It’s all original – the previous owner changed the pick up surrounds and added chrome covers to improve the look, but the original pick ups are still installed, and I also have the original cream surrounds.
The controls are volume and tone for each pick up, plus a master volume – a really useful feature, and pick up selector switch. It has a fully bound body, neck and headstock and the fretboard has block pearl inlays.
It has been very well looked after and in exceptional condition. Try finding better!
Also has the advantage of coming with a Hiscox Pro-II GL hard case costing £134
