1979 USA Rickenbacker 4001 Bass with hard case

This is a very original, un-messed with Rickenbacker 4001. It's finished in Olympic White and has aged to a very cool creamy/yellow (Picture 3 best shows its true colour)

The pots are dated 1978, and the serial number dates it to early 1979. Everything is original and correct. The truss rods turn smoothly in both directions and work as they should. The rubber gaskets between the tuners and the headstock are all still there which is always a good sign. It had hardly been apart (if ever)

The bass does have several marks, chips and general signs of use, including some fret wear (there is still have plenty of life in them though, and it only affects the first 6 or so, and easily replaced in the future) and some small lacquer cracks (definitely nothing structural or of any concern, and pretty standard for a Ricky of this age) More pictures available.

However, this bass has been well treated and looked after, and is a very collectable instrument. It comes nicely set up with new strings and a period (Not Rickenbacker) hard case.
