*****SOLD***** Fender
Precision Bass "S9" USA Natural with Hard Case This
is a Fender Precision bass with a "S9" serial number. One of the
last to made at the Fullerton factory. The "S9" designation were
used on basses made from 1978 to 1982. This particular bass actually dates
from 1981. These basses are typically advertised as "1978 or
1979" but the true age is only revealed after taking it apart. The
neck pocket has the matching serial number sticker on it and the pots and
pick-ups date it to 1981. This
bass was bought by its one and only owner new, and then played
infrequently over the next 31 years. It is totally 100% original, unmessed
with and a very nice bass. The pick-ups are particularly powerful and tone
is especially satisfying. It
has been set up with a straight neck and low action, and fitted with a set
of new Rotosound strings. It comes in its tatty but solid original (non
Fender) hard case with all hinges, handle and catches sound. It has the
original chrome bridge cover, too. The
body is Ash and has mellowed to a lovely colour. Yes, it is quite heavy
but you don't get any head stock dive with this one. It
plays very well with the usual punch you would expect from a vintage
Precision, and is in very nice condition - just a couple of small chips, a
couple of wear marks, but overall very nice.
