Manson 5 String Bass – circa late 1980’s

I have here my Manson’s handmade 5 string bass guitar.
It’s a thru neck of maple and mahogany, mahogany body with a birds eye figured top, with a matched headstock. Ebony fretboard with custom silver inlays and “hidden” dot markers. (The dots are under the “A” string, but visible when being played and looking down – a nice touch) Brass nut. It has a lovely neck on it, pretty slim for a 5 string, definitely not chunky. Nice and easy to play with good resonant B string and a fast, low action.
The bass has been verified as being made by Hugh Manson in the late 1980’s, early 1990’s.
It has been retro fitted with active EMG pickups, maybe done by Mansons, and was like this when I got it. Controls are vol, treble/bass boost/cut, blend.
Condition-wise it’s very good, no cracks or anything bad, a few marks here and there, and a bit of buckle rash on the back, but the frets are excellent as is the back of the neck.
I really like the look of it – sometimes with boutique made instruments, the woods used are a little over the top and flashy, but this one I think is just right – obvious quality, but with a more subtle look.
It comes with a Manson’s gig bag, but you could upgrade to a hard case for a little more if desired.
