1986 Westone Thunder III Bass
Here’s a lovely bass.
It’s a 1986 Westone Thunder III bass, so the last year they were produced and (IMO) the best model of Thunder to have.
The III’s were neck thru construction, and this model is in the best colour – most were natural with rosewood, this one has an ebony board and deluxe fretboard inlays (Crosses not just dots) and the last models were fitted with the best pickups (Magnabass) which looked better and sounded better than the stand P or P/J offerings from earlier.
This also has the upgraded bridge.
Basically, if you wanted a Thunder bass this is the model to have.
The condition is excellent, frets are pretty much like new, the trussrod turns smoothly and the only evidence it’s almost 40 years old are a few minor dings. All the electrics work as they should.
I’ve been using it a little recently to practise on, and it’s lovely to play.
Made in Japan by Matsumoku.
It comes in a decent Aria Pro II hard case from the same era.
