Here’s a new Sandberg that’s just arrived with me. The lead time on ordering a new bass from Sandberg is now 2 years! Before Covid it was about 6 months, but after a surge in demand during the pandemic, the lead time got longer and longer and has not improved in the last few years at all, in fact it’s got worse.

This is mainly due to Sandberg’s resistance to up production, as the fear is there may be a drop in quality. Also, skilled staff are hard to find and take a long time to train, so will just have to accept it. It does mean that ordering a bass to your own specs isn’t an option for most people, due to the long wait, so if you see a Sandberg that you like, best buy it…..

This particular Sandberg has been ordered with a few specification upgrades to make it stand out from the usual offerings. It’s 35″ scale which provides higher string tension compared to the standard 34-inch, resulting in a tighter, more defined, and clearer notes.

This extended scale improves intonation, produces a piano-like tone, and gives you a little more space between the frets further up the neck.

It’s also useful if tuning to BEAD, but works just fine in standard tuning as well.

It also has black hardware and a satin black headstock to balance everything up looks-wise, and ordered with white front facing dots.

Every Sandberg bass has been Plek’d in the factory. A Plek is a computer-controlled fret leveling tool, which in the hands of an experienced tec, can provide an unparalleled fret job. It levels frets with an accuracy of .001″, assists in the process of making nuts, and offers extremely advanced setup functions.
